It's Not Always How It Looks On TV!

HGTV makes home renovations look like a cinch. However, those of us who have actually tackled such projects know that that’s just completely untrue! Rarely does anything ever go as we’ve planned and we usually end up with unexpected, expensive surprises. My latest project has been just like this - but luckily I’ve come to expect the unexpected! Upon ripping up the floors for a basement reno, our contractor discovered some nice, lovely MOLD. Not only was there mold, oooh no, but to top it off, the previous homeowner installed the floors wrong, causing cracks and holes in the concrete leading to lots of water and, yup, mold.

Luckily we prepared some wiggle room in the budget so we were able to get the mold taken care of without any problems- phew! 😅 Let’s hope the rest of this basement project stays on track - you never know what you’ll uncover when demo day starts!
